Disgaea Mayhem post-game — Carnage mode

Credits are not the finish line in Disgaea Mayhem. The real ceiling is Carnage mode — the Carnage Dimension where enemy levels jump past the campaign, gear ranks climb to 40, and every Carnage kill permanently adds stats to N.A. This Disgaea Mayhem post-game page is the unlock checklist, the stat caps, and the farm loop that replaces story stages.

If you are still in the campaign, start with the walkthrough for region order and the beginner guide for combat basics. The wiki hub links every system page when you need a quick lookup.

Disgaea Mayhem Carnage Dimension gate with high-level enemies after unlocking Carnage mode

How to unlock Carnage mode

Carnage mode is gated behind the Dark Chocolate Assembly — you pass a 500,000-mana bill only after four separate requirements are met. The bill is the formality; meeting the checklist is the work.

Dark Chocolate Assembly Carnage mode unlock bill showing the 500,000-mana cost in Disgaea Mayhem
  • Do01Complete the main story
  • Do02Pass the Postlude bill (100,000 mana) and clear all three Postlude stages
  • Do03Complete the Super Overlord tier of the Character World — grants Infinite Reincarnation
  • Do04Obtain a rank 40 item — the Aura Belt route in the Item World is fastest
  • Do05Pass the Carnage mode bill for 500,000 mana

Why Super Overlord matters before Carnage

Clearing the Super Overlord tier of Character World unlocks Infinite Reincarnation (+1% ATK and DEF per reincarnation, capped at +100%) and satisfies one Carnage requirement in a single run. It is the highest-value Character World clear in the game — pair it with free reincarnation cycling once mana cost bottoms out at max level.

The rank 40 item requirement

You need one piece of gear at rank 40, not a full set. Armour ranks faster than weapons: take a cheap Aura Belt through ten-wave legendary dives, accept each rank upgrade, and repeat until the belt hits rank 40. That one item unlocks rank 39 drops everywhere else and checks the Carnage bill requirement. Full ladder notes live on the Item World page.

Stack Carnage with these systems

The Postlude — first post-credits wall

After the story, a 100,000-mana Assembly bill opens the Postlude — three steep stages at level 200, 400, and 600. They are the game's clearest signal that reinforced gear matters more than character level.

Postlude stageEnemy levelWhat you need
Stage 1~200One weapon pushed in the Item World with Cheat Shop EXP running
Stage 2~400Legendary gear with population 8 and critical investment
Stage 3~600Rank-climbing dives or a Postlude drop in the rank 35–39 range

Carnage stat transfer — where power comes from

Levels barely move your numbers in Disgaea Mayhem. Carnage mode fixes that: every Carnage enemy you kill — in the Carnage Dimension gate or inside a Carnage item dive — permanently transfers a slice of its stats to you. No evility required, unlike older Disgaea monster-stat systems.

Disgaea Mayhem character stats screen after Carnage enemy kills permanently raise attack and defence
StatCapTypical pace
Attack10,000,000Caps quickly through normal Carnage dives
Defence10,000,000Caps alongside attack
HP1,000,000,000Slowest of the three, still routine

Four layers that stack with Carnage stats

Carnage transfers are one layer. The other four are reinforced Item World equipment, Character World evilities like Equipment Adaptation (+20% gear stats), Critical Damager Innocents on every gear slot, and weapon mastery from Character World tiers. Missing any one layer makes Carnage enemies feel spongy even at high level — see builds for the full stack.

Difficulty jump on entry

Passing the Carnage bill roughly doubles difficulty. The first Carnage stage sits around level 1,200 against Postlude's 600, and by the end of Carnage chapter three enemies approach level 8,000. The Gun's sprint-heavy clear and Cocytus on rank 39–40 gear are the community default for this band — tier list for the honest class order.

The Carnage farm loop

Once Carnage mode is live, your session goal is one loop that advances item level, Innocents, Carnage stats, and EXP at the same time. Story stages never enter the rotation again.

Loop of N.A. clearing Carnage Dimension enemies with gun area attacks in Disgaea Mayhem
  • Do01Cheat Shop: EXP and item sliders to maximum
  • Do02Assembly: triple EXP, reward items when hunting ranks — bills
  • Do03Equip Gun (or your committed class) with Critical Damager Innocents stacked
  • Do04Buddy: best monster weapon + loot evilities (Treasure Hunter, Usurper)
  • Do05Dive Carnage-tier gear or enter the Carnage Dimension gate
  • Do06Sprint-heavy through waves; save skills for gate bosses
  • Do07Kill Carnage enemies for stat transfer — bail when clear speed drops
  • Do08Bank free reincarnations with Infinite Reincarnation equipped
  • Do09Repeat on the same item to beat your Level High Score

Item World vs Carnage gate

Both routes pay Carnage stat transfers. Carnage item dives also level the gear you dive into, roll Innocents, and respect your Level High Score — that is the default grind. The Carnage Dimension gate stages are useful when you want pure stat transfers without tying progress to one item. Most players live in the Item World; use the gate for burst stat sessions.

When to chase Cocytus

The rank-seven Gun skill Cocytus only rolls on rank 39–40 weapons and costs 1,000,000 enhancement points to unlock. It is the one-button superboss answer and trivialises deep Carnage floors, but it is a reward at the end of the rank ladder, not a prerequisite to enter Carnage mode. Farm rank 40 first, then chase Cocytus on the side.

Post-game checklist in order

Run this sequence once credits roll. Skipping steps is what turns a two-hour post-game into a ten-hour detour.

  • Do01Pass I Demand Triple EXP! and triple mana if not already done — Assembly
  • Do02Push one weapon to legendary and a comfortable item level in the Item World
  • Do03Bank 100,000 mana and clear Postlude stages 200 / 400 / 600
  • Do04Clear Character World through Super Overlord for Infinite Reincarnation
  • Do05Climb an Aura Belt (or weapon) to rank 40 via ten-wave dives
  • Do06Pass the Carnage mode bill (500,000 mana)
  • Do07Stack Critical Damager Innocents on all four gear slots
  • Do08Enter Carnage dives and farm until ATK/DEF caps, then HP
  • Do09Sweep rank-3 monsters for evilities — change character
  • Do10Challenge superbosses (Baal and post-Carnage content) with Cocytus or your capped build

Disgaea Mayhem post-game FAQ

What is Carnage mode in Disgaea Mayhem?

Carnage mode is the post-credits Carnage Dimension — higher enemy levels, Carnage-tier gear, and permanent stat transfers when you kill Carnage enemies. Unlock it through the Dark Chocolate Assembly after story, Postlude, Super Overlord Character World, and a rank 40 item.

How do I unlock the Carnage Dimension?

Finish the story, clear Postlude (100,000-mana bill), complete Super Overlord in Character World, obtain a rank 40 item, then pass the 500,000-mana Carnage bill.

What are the Carnage stat caps?

Roughly 10 million attack, 10 million defence, and 1 billion HP from Carnage enemy kills — transferred permanently with no evility required.

Where should I farm Carnage stats?

Carnage item dives in the Item World are the main loop — they also level gear and roll Innocents. The Carnage Dimension gate works for pure stat bursts.

Do I need Cocytus to start Carnage?

No. Cocytus is the rank-seven Gun skill on rank 39–40 gear — a late reward. Enter Carnage with a reinforced Gun or Spear and add Cocytus later.

How long is the post-game?

The campaign plus early post-game fits in about 20 hours. Carnage stat caps and superbosses can extend grinding far beyond that — Lv 9,999 is only the level gate.

Is the post-game required for the story?

No. Credits roll without Carnage mode. Everything after is optional min-max content.
